I've been a frequent visitor to the wetland at Magnuson Park in North Seattle. Over years of visiting, I've come to recognize the sounds and sights of the seasonal changes. One of my favorites in Spring is listening to the dueling red-wing blackbird calls.

I also like seeing the gradual emergence of leaves on the bushes and trees, and the return of migratory swallows. Recently I watched a small hawk, probably a merlin, hunt by darting between tree limbs in a thickly forested area.
You can see quite a few different species in a short walk around the wetland.
